CIMC Raffles delivered China’s first drilling rig “Shengli 1” in 1978. Since October 2010 till now, CIMC Raffles has delivered 12 semi-submersible drilling rigs and 15 Jack up drilling rigs, possessing the capability to design and build drilling rigs in batches and industrialized.
BLUEWHALEⅠis the world's most advanced semi-submersible drilling rig with dual derricks to operate in the ultra-deep-water . With Frigstad providing basic design, CIMC Raffles completed all detail design, construction design, construction and commissioning. Compared with the traditional single derrick platform, Blue Whale I is equipped with an efficient hydraulic dual derrick and a global leading closed-loop power system from Siemens, which can improve the operation efficiency by 30% and save fuel consumption by 10%. This rig was awarded “the best drilling technology ” in 2014 World Oil and “the best design highlights” the 2016 OTC .

BT-UDS is an ultra-deepwater drillship designed for effective production drilling in addition to exploration drilling. The BT-UDS features higher payload and capacities although smaller or similar in size than competing designs.
The BT-UDS is designed with a dual activity derrick and is prepared for efficient coiled tubing operations. The BT-UDS is designed to handle up to two 20,000 psi BOP stacks. Large bulk and mud, drill-water,fuel oil capacities provide endurance and flexibility in well circulation.
The BT-UDS is arranged with a closed bus enhanced redundancy DP system and includes Energy Storage Systems. The bT-UDS has received a full class approval from DNV.
The BT-4000 is a semi-submersible designs for efficient and automated drilling with a minimized environmental impact. The BT-4000 has been designed with a heave compensated normally unmanned drillfloor to minimize the risk for weel-bore surge and swab.
The Bt-4000 has been designed to minimize the environmental loading to reduce the power consumption and accordingly the emissions to the environment. With an optimized hull design for motion and low drg loads, the station keeping forces are reduced. With energy storage systems and optional methanol/LNG operations the emissions are further erdced.
