At the same time, it has two offshore design companies in Europe, forming an interactive R&D layout between China and Europe.

The group's predecessor can be traced back to Yantai Shipyard, which was founded in 1977 which built and delivered the first bottom-sitting drilling platform in 1978. Hundreds of various types of Marine equipment had been delivered over years, including the world's newest generation of ultra-deep water semi-submersible drilling platform "Blue Whale I", the world's advanced FPSO of Petrobras, the first Marine ranch platform and deep-water intelligent cage of China, the world's largest salmon aquaculture vessel, and the largest Ro-Ro transport vessel of Asia.
