Deepsea Yantai, owned by CIMC and managed by Odfjell Drilling, a Norwegian drilling contractor, has been awarded multiple contracts in the Norwegian North Sea, keeping the rig busy in 2023.

Deepsea Yantai won several bidding opportunities from local clients this summer, and successfully nailed down a few contacts for well exploration, plug and abandon, securing the scope of work for 2023 and some of which are expected to last through 2024. These contracts include one exploration well for OMV Norge AS in Eirik PL817, one HP/HT well for Wellesley in Carmen PL1148, one exploration well for DNO in PL984, nine plug and abandon wells for Shell Norway in Knarr and Gaupe fields.

Equipped with DP3 dynamic positioning system, Deepsea Yantai is the sixth generation semi-submersible drilling platform suitable to operate in harsh environment in the North Sea. It has been operating in the Norwegian North Sea since 2019 and has been highly recognized by clients and the market for its efficient and stable performance.

CIMC’s asset management companies currently operate platforms in the Caspian Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Norwegian North Sea, the China Sea and the Brazil Sea to provide long-term drilling, accommodation and wind turbine installation services to several of the world's leading oil and gas companies.

The new cooperation with the main stream oil and gas companies from the North Sea marks the recognition of CIMC and Deepsea Yantai in the local market. Oriented by providing value and service to the clients, CIMC will strive to open a new chapter of more successful cooperation for the future.
