On 30th September, CIMC Raffles signed 1+1 Offshore Wind Installation Vessel EPC Contract with Royal Van Oord through Teams Meeting online, and the Vessel will enter into service for the European offshore wind farm construction after delivery. This project will be the flag ship project enabling CIMC Raffles to step into international offshore wind mainstream market with promoting “Green Industry Partners (GIP)” action and assist to reach “Carbon Neutrality” target.

The new generation offshore wind installation vessel is designed by the Danish Naval Architect Knud E. Hansen. The vessel is featured with world largest offshore wind installation vessel characters as 175.1 meters long, and deck area over 7000 square meters, as well as accommodating 135 persons onboard, the main crane lifting capacity reaches more than 3,000 tons, and is to be equipped with 4 triangular legs.

Running on the future fuel methanol by methanol engines with large sized methanol storage tanks, the new installation vessel reduces the ship's CO2 footprint by more than 78%. In addition, the vessel will be equipped with an advanced active emissions control technology i.e. Selective Catalytic Reduction to reduce the NOx emission to an absolute minimum. An installed 5,000 kWh battery pack can take the peak loads and regenerate energy to reduce the fuel consumption and corresponding emissions even further. In the coming decades, this vessel will maintain as an industrial typical icon with its unique and innovative technology, environment-friendly feature and operating capacity.

Van Oord is a Dutch family-owned company with more than 150 years of experience as an international marine contractor. Marine ingenuity is characteristic of Van Oord.

By using innovative, smart and sustainable solutions, it wishes to contribute to a better world for future generations.

CIMC Raffles is the China leading offshore engineering facilities supplier with working on Offshore Wind for a few years by taking the advantage of offshore wind facilities fabrication, wind farm resources development, transportation and installation as well as operation and maintenance service. Early this year, CIMC Raffles initiated “Green Industry Partners (GIP)” jointly with cooperative upstream and downstream partners to promote offshore wind through practical approaches for realizing offshore wind power parity and reaching the “3060” target.

Through this cooperation, both parties will make full use of their own advantages in engineering, construction and operation as well as maintenance etc. aspects to move forward the substantial development of offshore wind power industry, expedite the clean energy application and contribute the force to the “Green Industry Partners (GIP)” action and “Carbon Naturality” target.
