During recent days, CIMC Raffles and Norway's Havfram confirmed and signed the second EPC shipbuilding Contract for the state-of-the-art Wind Turbine Installation Vessel, which will be ultilized for transportation, and installation services in European wind farms after delivery. This project is another series offshore wind installation vessels of CIMC Raffles as the world's major offshor wind equipment supplier to continously promote “Green Industry Partners (GIP)” action and assist to reach “Carbon Neutrality” target.
This project with latest NG20000X design is provided by GustoMSC in the Netherlands, with the related basic design is jointly completed by GustoMSC and CIMC Raffles. This new type of design is capable of installing offshore wind turbines with a rotor diameter of more than 300 meters, as well as XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tons at water depths of up to 70 meters. The vessel capacity has been optimized for high variable deck load and the extreme lift heights expected over the next decade, while incorporating the latest battery hybrid drive train technology designed to reduce carbon emissions per MW installed by over 70% compared to previous vessel models. These vessels are the most critically scarce core equipment and demanding vessels of the global renewable energy supply chain.
Even Larsen, CEO Havfram Wind, commented: «We are very happy to continue working with CIMC Raffles. The decision to order a second NG20000X Jack-Up vessel with CIMC Raffles is based on the good established cooperation with the shipyard and several commitments with major offshore wind developers. As previously announced, we have signed a contract with Ørsted to install wind turbines at their Hornsea 3 project, starting in autumn of 2026. Vattenfall has appointed us as preferred supplier for their Norfolk Projects, starting in the spring of 2027. Last week, we signed a preferred supplier agreement with RWE for turbine installation support for their Nordseecluster project, commencing in the summer of 2026. »
«We are quite pleased to firm up this important agreement and the second vessel with Havfram and proud to be the joint force for the developement of Havfram offshore wind business. As a global major Offshore equipment EPC contractor, throughout our capability, proven and reliable offshore experience as well as ONE-team work, we're confident we will meet Havfram and their clients’ high-end demand of offshore wind T&I equipment and facilitate Havfram's market position with committing to deliver expected high standard project. In addition I believe the team-up cooperation will definitely contribute to the offshore wind industry and aid the global energy transition for boosting a more sustainable and greener world.» Says Jonathan Wang Jianzhong, CEO & President of CIMC Raffles Group.
Havfram has its heritage from execution of complex oil & gas subsea construction projects in harsh North Sea conditions. The offshore wind team of Havfram Wind has a long track record within offshore wind construction, and most of the individuals of the team joined the industry during the early years of industrialization more than a decade ago. With the increased activity globally, larger turbines and multi-GW projects, Havfram is in a prime position to become a trustworthy and reliable partner for project execution in the global offshore wind market.
CIMC Raffles is the China leading offshore equipment EPC supplier with working on Offshore Wind for a few years by taking the advantage of offshore wind facilities fabrication, wind farm resources development, transportation and installation as well as operation and maintenance service. Early 2021, CIMC Raffles initiated “Green Industry Partners (GIP)” jointly with cooperative upstream and downstream partners to promote offshore wind through practical approaches for realizing offshore wind power parity and reaching the “3060” target.
