H485 Y-Type semi-submersible Vessel Steel Cutting Ceremony was successfully held

On the morning of March 30th 2020, construction of the Y-Type semi-submersible vessel built by CIMC Raffles for SEVENSTAR, a subsidiary of SPLIETHOFF GROUP shipping company commenced steel cutting at the Long Kou base. Witnessed by Lloyd’s Register of Shipping project team and other representatives, gouge welding, and the first batch of section steel plate was formally cut in the MPC.


The project has a total length of 213.7 meters, width of 46 meters and a draft of 4.6 meters. It is suitable for loading, unloading and transportation. It can effectively load and unload yachts, river cruise ships and other floating cargo.

Yin Yantai, Assistant General Manager of CIMC Raffles Longkou base said that since the signing of the project last year, in order to create a high-quality project with the strong support of LR classification society and owners; Longkou base has cooperated with R&D and procurement departments to carry out adequate pre-production preparation, and optimization of project design and construction process. To improve the construction efficiency and quality of project, the construction team is a team with rich experience and strong capability. It is hoped that all departments can give play to the craftsman's spirit of gathering people to pursuing excellence, strengthen project management, optimize construction technology, and work together to deliver the project on time and on budget.


Due to the coronavirus epidemic situation, Liu Hao, the project manager, and several design engineers were in Wuhan and were unable to return to their posts on time. Many suppliers cannot arrange production as planned, and some materials and equipment are at risk of delay. In order to ensure that the project remain on schedule, the project team adopted cloud computing and other methods to comprehensively coordinate, compartmentalize, thereby achieving clarity. This demonstrated their strong ability of organization, coordination and project management.
