On January 12th 2020, a strategic-partnership agreement was signed between Qingdao Ocean Science and Technology Pilot National Lab and Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. (CIMC Raffles) during 2019 Annual Academic Meeting. They will complement each other and innovate together to explore the offshore industry as a strong Shandong Power. Their cooperation promotes the merge of production, study and implement of this industry, and the two cities of Yantai and Qingdao, which will drive the two cities to contribute positively as the leadership on replacing old growth drivers with new ones.
Song Jinming, the Deputy Director of Qingdao Ocean Science and Technology Pilot National Lab and Li Minggao, the Vice President of CIMC Raffles signed the agreement as the delegate of the two parties. Qingdao and Yantai are the important coastal cities of Shandong, with abundant ocean resources, high speed development of ocean technology and solid foundation of ocean industry. The Qingdao Ocean Science and Technology Pilot National Lab is established under the national ocean development strategy, launch the basic and forefront technology study and create innovation platform of world-class comprehensive ocean science and technology institute, which is a essential part of national ocean science and technology innovation system. CIMC Raffles is a enterprise which could provide EPC contractor of world class offshore equipment. On June 12th 2018, Xi Jinping, the general secretary visited Qingdao Ocean Science and Technology Pilot National Lab and heard the report on usage of ocean resources, serve for ocean economy, protection of ocean environment and solid ocean observation web creation. He said that the ocean economy has a promising future. For building a China with strong maritime power, we must concern, understand and manage the ocean to accelerate the pace of innovation. On the 13th, the general secretary came to Yantai Yard of CIMC Raffles in the rain. After leart the independent innovation development story, he said that the basic and core technology should be created by ourselves independently. And we know that we could reach it with firm determination.
The two units entrusted by the general secretary and keep it in mind firmly. Under the strategy of important project in transformation of drive power and Ocean Strengthen of Shandong Province, gathered all kinds of innovation resources, to build a high level of scientific research cooperation platform in order to study for the key technology and equipment together towards the direction of offshore engineering, special ships, offshore platforms digitalization and related scientific application. And they are trying to promote ability of innovation to speed up the development of marine industry. The President of CIMC Raffles, Wang Jianzhong said that the general secretary's concern for managing the economy and oceans, as well as for independent innovation. And he also pointed out the way forward for us. We will bear in mind our instructions and devote ourselves to contributing more 'Shandong Power' to the construction of a strong maritime country and a strong maritime province.
