On August 28, 2018, during the 23rd Offshore North Sea Exhibition (ONS), CIMC Raffles and Siemens renewed their strategic cooperation agreement in Stavanger, Norway. The two parties will try new business models, including bidding as a consortium and developing business in new industries as well as exploring intelligent transformation and intelligent manufacturing based on industrial 4.0. The renewal of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement will expand the scope of cooperation and enhance their competitiveness in relevant fields, Indicating a new level of cooperation between the two parties.

As a leading offshore engineering enterprise in China, CIMC Raffles has been able to access deep water drilling platforms in the past ten years, and has the ability to stand in the first echelon of the global offshore industry. In recent years, CIMC Raffles has steadily strengthened its independent innovation, deepened upstream and downstream cooperation, expanded its industrial chain, and entered new fields such as deep-sea fisheries, clean energy and intelligent offshore cities. Under this agreement, CIMC Raffles and Siemens will jointly develop new business opportunities, and each other will be the preferred supplier, cooperating in module manufacturing, offshore wind power installation, power generation ship, seawater purification, FLNG, FSRU and other fields; the two parties will work jointly bidding as a consortium and jointly find new financing modes for new projects.

With the development of science and technology, people's demand for efficient energy equipment is increasing. It is a general trend to improve production efficiency and product quality through intellectualization and digitalization. According to this agreement, CIMC Raffles and Siemens will establish a joint working group to communicateon the development direction of Industrial 4.0, equipment and advanced concepts and jointly develop intelligent manufacturing. The two parties will work together on R&D, such as technical cooperation in conceptual design and basic design, further R&D on the basis of existing DP3 closed-loop laboratories, and Siemens will establish a new laboratory in CIMC Raffles and provide relevant training.

The first strategic cooperation between CIMC Raffles and Siemens began six years ago. The two parties have launched a series of cooperation in technology and marketing. Siemens developed the world's most advanced DP3 closed-loop power technology and applied this technology on "COSL Prospector" and two "blue whale" Semi-Submersibles which are built by CIMC Raffles, to provide a stable power system for the platform and to ensure accurate dynamic positioning. In November 2015, Siemens DP3 closed-loop digital laboratory was unveiled in CIMC OEI, which achieved the integration and joint research and development of Siemens digital technology and integrated design and construction of CIMC Raffles. In August 2017, "Blue Whale 2" successfully completed the closed-loop test of power system under DP3 operation mode, which is the first time to fulfill this technology in China.

"In the past, we have established friendly cooperation with Siemens in the field of offshore. With the advent of the industrial 4.0 era, we will jointly develop and share a vision to provide customers with solutions that can meet and lead their needs in more fields," said Wang Jianzhong, CEO and President of CIMC Raffles.
